Wilfrid
On the sandy floor of the Tonga Trench, 10,000 metres below the surface, Wilfrid drifts and sways. His silhouette changes according to his moods. Lacking a backbone, he possesses remarkable flexibility, allowing him both to escape predators slowed by the immense pressure and to engage in wild games of hide-and-seek with his fellow invertebrates. Yet sometimes, he wishes he were a little straighter, a little less subject to the currents. He would like to know where he is going. To be able to predict what he will do tomorrow. But his mind is like his body: endlessly fluid, infinitely unpredictable.
