Éole

ÉOLE Born to a crab father and an octopus mother, Éole enjoys the rare privilege of feeling equally at home on the sand and among the corals. Whenever he feels like it, he spends days near the coconut trees, observing humans and their strange habits. Then, when he grows tired of them — which happens rather quickly — he dives deep, very deep, to where the light begins to fade and only a few peculiar fish remain. There, Éole recharges. He finds his rhythm again, forgets the noise, the bustle of tourists, the overly bright beach umbrellas and the endless conversations. It is gentle, calm and soothing. But after a few weeks, he begins to miss humans. So, before returning to them, he adorns himself with his finest shades of blue — one never knows, someone might decide to immortalise him with the dark rectangle that never seems to leave their hand — and promises himself to be on his best behaviour and not pinch anyone… provided they behave properly.
